Getting started

What is TattooOS in one sentence?
The operating system every artist, studio, supplier, and convention runs on — a verified registry where every piece, every booking, and every transaction is signed and resolvable forever.
Is it free?
Yes — Collector tier is free and has been free since day one. Artist tier costs $9/mo, Studio $29/mo, Brand $79/mo, Enterprise $299/mo — full pricing. You only pay when you publish, sell, organize, or sponsor — and even those tiers carry a free trial.
Do I need an invite?
No. Sign up with email, Google, or Facebook. Pick a handle. You're in.
What's KYC and why do I need it?
KYC ('know your customer') is identity verification. Tier 0 is anyone with an account. Tier 1 unlocks selling, bookings, and stamping — takes about three minutes. Tier 2 unlocks high-value payouts and is reviewed manually. We use it to keep the registry honest, not to gatekeep.

Stamps + the registry

What's a stamp?
A stamp is a SHA-256 hash of a piece's image plus your verified identity, anchored on the registry forever. Anyone with the hash can verify the piece's authorship at tattooos.skin/stamp/{hash}. Once issued, a stamp is immutable.
Can I stamp work I did before TattooOS existed?
Yes. Upload it to your portfolio, mark it as your work, and seal it. The stamp records the date you signed it — it doesn't claim the work was created the same day.
What happens to my stamps if I leave the platform?
They stay on the registry. The registry domain (tattooos.skin) and every stamp's verification URL is permanent. Even if you cancel your account, the proof of authorship remains.
Can someone fake a stamp?
No. Stamps require KYC-verified identity at signing time and are anchored to a hash that includes your user ID. Forging one would require breaking SHA-256 and Stripe's identity verification simultaneously.

Bookings + waivers

How do bookings work?
A client requests a booking from your profile. You accept (with optional deposit). They pay deposit in Ink. You confirm. Both sides sign a digital waiver. You complete the session. The platform charges 1% capped at $10 per booking.
What's the digital waiver?
Every confirmed booking signs a versioned waiver covering allergies, contraindications, photo release, and aftercare. The signed payload is hashed (SHA-256) and the hash anchors into the eventual stamp — proof of informed consent at session time. Customise yours at Settings → Waiver.
What's a touch-up window?
Storefronts and artists can set a per-booking touch-up window (default 60 days). Within the window, the client can request a free touch-up appointment. Outside the window, touch-ups may be paid.

Money

What is Ink?
Ink is the platform's settlement unit. 1 Ink = $1 USD. Top up with Stripe (credit card), spend on bookings / marketplace / events / sponsorships, cash out to your bank via Stripe Connect. Free top-up, free spending, free peer transfers.
How do payouts work?
Connect a bank via Wallet → Cash out. Stripe handles identity, tax forms, and KYC. Cashout fee: 5% + $0.50 flat. Minimum $25. Auto-approved when payouts are live; mediator-reviewed otherwise.
What does the platform fee look like?
Marketplace 1–3% (based on seller tier), bookings 1% capped at $10, tickets $0.50 flat. International cross-border adds a customs broker fee. We don't take a cut of sponsorships, peer transfers, or wallet top-ups.

Conventions

What is the Convention OS?
A turnkey OS for tattoo conventions: organizer dashboard, ticketing, booth assignment, on-site check-in, badge printing, applications, health-safety compliance gating, white-label tenant subdomain, custom domain. See /conventions for the overview.
Can I run a convention on my own domain?
Yes. Configure a tenant subdomain at /app/events/[id]/tenant, optionally point a custom domain to TattooOS via TXT verification. The convention site renders with your branding; the platform handles everything else.
What's the contract tier ladder?
Lite ($5K/yr or 2% gross — ≤50 artists, ≤2K attendees). Pro ($25K/yr or 1.5% — ≤200 artists, ≤10K attendees). Private ($100K/yr — unlimited, white-label, dedicated agents).

Trust + safety

How are health-safety credentials verified?
Upload bloodborne pathogen training, autoclave logs, business / tattoo licenses, insurance, allergen + pigment disclosures at Settings → Compliance. Admins verify each record. Verified credentials surface on your storefront and unlock health-gated booth bookings at conventions.
What if a piece is fraudulent?
Report it from the stamp's verification page. Admin review. Confirmed fraud results in stamp invalidation + account suspension. The original stamp's hash stays in the registry as evidence.
What happens to my stamps if I die or retire?
Name a successor at Settings → Estate. If you mark your account retired or it's marked deceased, stewardship transfers to your successor after a 90-day grace period. Existing stamps stay valid forever.
